Flowers have traditionally been used in the Middle East to infuse water & perfume spice blends with a sweet dry taste. Ras el hanout is the classic that calls for rose buds & pepper blends in France have called upon them similarly for a delicate undercurrent of taste. Commercial manufacture of 'rose water' utilises steam to extract the flowers' flavours into water. Try mixing rose buds with lavender & chamomile to make a relaxing tea – or at the very least potpourri.
