Origin: Spain. Hand sized chillies, looking much like small rounded bell peppers, give rise to the famous smoked paprika known as 'pimenton de la Vera' from the La Vera region of Spain. Harvesting them at a brilliant red stage in the fall, Spanish farmers smoke these paprika chillies over wood fires in everything from long narrow smoke houses, to small metal baskets. Festivals are held each year, & the patron saint of the harvest is thanked for the bounty, St Rodriquez
