Origin: Guatemala. Cardamom is a native of, & was exclusively grown in India up until 1900. German immigrants then brought it to Guatemala which is now the world's largest producer. This is the 'Mysore' variety of cardamom. Its flavors center around pine, wood & eucalyptus. The Nordic countries consume 10% of the world's supply of cardamom, whilst the Arab countries consume roughly 80%, mostly to flavor their coffee.
